You need not be a child to be able to understand or enjoy ‘Neverland,’ but in order to experience the beauty, the fun and serendipity of a summer’s day, playing in a field of wildflowers, it’s an absolute necessity to be able to put your adult on hold and rediscover your childlike imagination.
‘Neverland’ was built, literally from the ground up, on a 12’ sheet of loose canvas, crawling around on the studio floor for days, layering rich base textures. Slowly over the next couple months, as I would allow myself to fall back into time, fantasy shapes little critters would appear, many of them wanting to dance and play. Look closely. You’ll see many, dancing, twirling, flying and skipping around. My job, was to bring them to life, to give them a place to express themselves; a big playground. I spent a lot of time in there with them. Some of my happiest times.
There are literally thousands of flowers and bugs and whatever it is that you see, that make ‘Neverland’ come alive. You can come back to this painting and always find something different, I do, and I painted it! SOLD, way too quickly - I miss them, very much!
