'Hopes Garden' 28" x 49" . Acrylic & Ink on Canvas . 2017 . SOLD
On a long, warm summer afternoon, lying on my back, in a field of wildflowers with my love Sandy, day dreaming, “Hopes Garden” came to life.
I experienced, looking deep withing in those lush deep grasses, multi layers of rich textured nature with all of it's glorious color, revealed all kinds of 'beasties' and WILD flowers, butterflies and flying 'whatevers,' crawly 'thingys' and whispy scented purple and brilliant blue spheres jetting thru the dense green canopy reaching, from my cool earthy vantage, into the bright sun. I was 8 years old and I was happy, again!
I was lost in the awe of nature ... of the pure joy of ‘BE-ing, reminded of when I was a boy, when time was cheap, something to squander, a time when lying in a field of flowers for hours just because the sun was warm on my skin and it felt 'good,' and there was time, and it was ok.
‘HOPES GARDEN’ is not a persons garden, it is a wish, a yearning, a hope for more awakenings. It seems so simple really - to just lie down, in a field of flowers on a warm day, yet it isn't, is it?
But, as the title implies, 'Hopes Garden' - there is hope and it can be a simple 'intention,' a choice, on a warm day, with a field, and some wildflowers and a bit, just a little, tiny bit of time. And, there is HOPE, to be a a little boy or a little girl again, in spirit, any time we choose.
This painting, is my offering into that spirit of eternal youth.
